With Lendahand, you can make sustainable investments and support SME entrepreneurs in emerging markets, fostering economic growth in poor countries.

By contributing, you are making a positive impact on the world, and simultaneously earning an interest of 5-8%.

An example:

“Zakirova, a seamstress in Tajikistan, began her journey in 2014 with a €180 loan from Oxus to buy a sewing machine. Expanding her skills and business, she secured a €2,700 loan in 2022 to open a shop. Her success now sustains her family and provides job opportunities for others.”

  • Buyback guarantie: No

  • Late loans: Lendahand is negotiating with a couple of loan originators about paying back late loans. €60 of my €300 investments are probably lost. But the bonus and interest I have received cover the loss.

My recommendation:

Consider investing in Lendahand as a donation to support underprivileged entrepreneurs in building their businesses and contributing to the development of society’s economy. If you make a profit, be happy. If you loose part of your investment, feel good about having contributed to society’s economic growth.
Please note, that you first investment of €500 has a guarantee against loss. If you invest up to €500 and don’t reinvest you can get some experience with a minimum of risk.

Zero-interest microloans to poor entrepreneurs in emerging countries

fight powerty with micro loans at kiva.org

Kiva is a non-profit organization that provides zero-interest microloans to entrepreneurs in developing countries. These loans help people start and grow businesses, which can lift them out of poverty and create a better future for themselves and their families. Kiva is able to provide these loans at no cost to borrowers because of the generosity of its lenders. Lenders can choose to lend as little as $25 to a borrower, and their loans are pooled together to create larger sums of money.

When borrowers repay their loans, the money is recycled and used to fund new loans. Kiva has a repayment rate of over 98%, which is significantly higher than the repayment rate for traditional loans in developing countries. This is because Kiva borrowers are carefully vetted and supported by local microfinance institutions. Kiva is a powerful tool for fighting poverty and creating opportunity around the world.

Kiva’s lending model is a sustainable and impactful way to give to charity. By providing microloans to entrepreneurs in developing countries, Kiva empowers individuals to start and grow businesses, lift themselves out of poverty, and create a better future for themselves and their families.

Unlike traditional charities that distribute funds once and may not see the impact, Kiva’s loans are repaid within a year, allowing the same money to be recycled and used to help multiple entrepreneurs. This multiplier effect means that your donation can have a greater impact than traditional giving.

Additionally, Kiva allows you to withdraw your funds if you need them back. This flexibility gives you the peace of mind that you can adjust your giving based on your financial circumstances.

As of February 2025, I had lent out $1,250 since 2019 and still have $740 remaining. $250 of the ‘loss’ I voluntarily donated to Kiva to cover their administrative and operating expenses. Due to my loans being reused, I have collectively provided loans for $6,000 and assisted 250 aspiring entrepreneurs in establishing self-sustaining businesses.

Automatic lending

You can set up an automatic monthly deposit which will be lend to the category you choose. The minimum deposit is $5.
